I like saying 'Yow' to people who are not familiar with my dialect. It's my way of saying hello to them — hoping that if they'd understand me, they'd give me food or cash. I live in one of the stilt houses in Mariki, a coastal barangay in Zamboanga City, and I love the sea. I'm happy to have been born by the sea. It is where my heart is.
